Graphic LCD displays are your first stop when simple text is not sufficient for a design.

With per-pixel control available, almost any monochrome image can be drawn on the display. With the many possibilities this level of control offers, Graphic LCDs can be found in products ranging from handheld gaming devices to industrial consoles. Like character LCDs, graphic LCDs are available in TN, STN, and FSTN options with positive and negative images. The polarizers come in Reflective, Transmissive, and Transflective types and are available in a wide range of colors.

Parallel and Serial interface options make operation no more difficult than interfacing with an 8-bit microcontroller. These displays come with user controlled contrast meaning they can be used in a wide range of settings and the display can be adjusted to ensure optimal optical performance. Many displays also have temperature compensation circuitry to maintain contrast as the ambient temperature changes. All of this makes graphic LCDs a versatile and rugged means of adding graphics to a design.
